Mikael Rothstein (DK)

Mag.art. and Ph.D. Associate Professor, Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, University of Copenhagen.

Mikael Rothstein has studied the new religions and religious movements of Europe and USA at close range for many years. He is presently focusing his research on the indigenous peoples of Borneo and South America, partly in order to describe and understand vanishing cultures, partly to register the devastating consequences of Christian missionary work.

Rothstein is the author of several books on the history of religions, including “Gud er blå” (transl. “God is Blue”), “UFOer og rumvæsener” (transl. “UFOs and aliens”) and (with Klaus Rothstein) “Bomben i turbanen” (transl. “The Bomb in the Turban” on the cartoon-crisis), “Belief Transformations” and a line of edited international volumes
